What is Zomm?
Zomm wireless leash is a key fob that alerts users whenever they walk twenty feet away from their iPhone. The product gently vibrates when the twenty feet threshold is met. If the user doesn’t hear the vibrations, an alarm will be triggered, gradually increasing until the user switches it off. Zomm can also be used to find your keys if they are lost.
Who is the Zomm Founder? ?
Even though Henry Penix seems to be the sole creator of Zomm, the truth is that Laurie (his wife) also helped in founding the company. The Penix are seasoned entrepreneurs. Before Zomm, they already had a successful preschool called Koala Care Preschool.
Henry Penix is currently the CEO at Soaak-a natural, non-invasive system that provides positive outcomes and solutions to the mental health and wellness issue through digital frequencies and daily meditations.
The Penix sold their preschool to fund the production of Zomm multi-use fob key. They also had an investor who had put in $5 million, bringing the total investment to $9 million.
This key fob is a clever acronym representing the first letters of their children’s names. The last letter represents mom, thus acknowledging his wife.
Zomm has several patents to its name. Having been initially produced to alert a user if they forgot their phone. However, the product expanded to other uses, like being an emergency dialer. A user could call an emergency contact or 911.
Due to its unique innovation, Zomm was an instant attraction to the market. In 2010, it had sales of $750,000 and was named the CES Innovation Award winner. In 2011 the sales volume almost grew tenfold by having sales of $5,000,000.
In 2012, before appearing on Shark Tank, the projected sales were estimated to be $7,000,000. It’s no wonder the sharks took an interest in the company.

Is Zomm Still in Business?
Zomm, also known as the Wireless Leash, is still in business. It has since expanded its product offering to offer a Safe Driving Kit since its flagship product. That being a Bluetooth-enabled device that you attach to your keyring, doubling as a speakerphone and personal safety device. The device buzzes in your pocket if you’ve walked too far away from your phone. You can find Zomm and its range of products on Amazon. However, the company website seems rather plain and undeveloped—with the social media links either being down or not showing anything of value. Co-founder Henry Penix is still with the company, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Similar in concept to Zomm is Phone Halo, which causes your phone to ring for easier identification when activated. That said, many iPhone users also own Apple Watch nowadays, which has a similar feature.
