Company Background

What is Under the Weather ?

Under the Weather Pods are zero-assembly, popup plastic tents designed to protect the people inside from the elements. The structures shield for all-weather, block bug and sun rays and even allow for social distancing to guard against sickness. The various pod sizes have the capacity for one to six individuals.

Who Owns Under the Weather?

Rick Pescovitz is the designer and founder of the Under the Weather pods. He accumulated 30 years of experience working in the textile industry.

His wife Kelly, who later joined him in the business, previously owned a marketing firm and brought her 25 years of brand knowledge. They live in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Founder’s Story

Rick and his family loved outdoor activities and watching the kid’s games like everyone else, but they found sudden weather interruptions frustrating.

In 2010 after a particularly miserable and cold soccer match for one of his kids, Rick designed the original pod to solve this problem.

He made a workable prototype and used all his available resources to launch the business. However, Under the Weather did not truly take off in sales until his wife, Kelly, started marketing their product on social media.

Rick and Kelly’s love for their three active children was the catalyst for starting this business.
