Tipsy Elves is the ecommerce apparel company specializing in ugly christmas sweaters and other quirky clothing.
But it doesn’t end there. The company also offers a range of clothing for men and women on other occasions including Halloween and Independence Day.
They’ve also just created a new line of tacky ski gear so you can turn heads and cause crashes on ski slopes everywhere.
The company was founded in 2011 when Evan Mendelsohn, a lawyer with some internet marketing skills, teamed up with college friend Nicklaus Morton, a dental surgeon, to start capitalizing on the ugly sweater party trend.
With $140,000 of their savings invested into the company, Morton and Mendelsohn began building their ugly sweater empire.
The ugly Christmas sweater entrepreneurs differentiated themselves from other tacky sweater creators by using higher quality materials as the foundation for their self-made irreverent and silly designs.
They also teamed up with Save the Children in dedicating a portion of their profits to providing underprivileged American children with winter clothing.
After a year in business, they had sold over $380,000 worth of sweaters and over $900,000 by then end of year two!
Tipsy Elves has continued to be lucrative since their 2011 launch and has steadily grown into an international brand selling sweaters in over 200 countries including Canada and the UK – even now becoming the official sponsors of National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day on December 20.
With over $50 million in revenue, they are definitely a Shark Tank success and according to Robert Herjavec, one of his “best Shark Tank investments”.
