Company Background

What is The Bumbling Bee?

Bumbling Bee prides itself in offering exclusive plant-based cuisine. If you are a vegan who has been missing out on junk food, Bumbling Bee has got you covered. You will enjoy your plant-based junk food without losing the meaty taste. Bumbling Bee uses mung bean, soy, pea, and other ingredients to make their delicious offerings.

Who Owns The Bumbling Bee?

In a technical sense, Bumbling Bee was created by a mother and her three daughters. However, the mother-daughter duo of Cassandra and India Ayala are the ones who played a prominent role.

Cassandra had been a real estate agent for over 25 years before delving into the food business. Her daughter India was a distinguished culinary student who had earned a scholarship due to her prowess.

Cassandra and India are still in charge of the company, together with Olivia and Lexie Ayala.

Founder’s Story

Cassandra and India knew they wanted to undertake a food business. However, the motivation to start a vegan fast-food venture was inspired by Olivia and Lexie being vegans. Bumbling Bee’s inaugural outlet was in Virginia Beach, and it was on a food truck.

As the food was excellent, and the news quickly spread, Bumbling Bee had an influx of orders. Cassandra opened a fully-fledged restaurant in Boulder, Colorado. The restaurant also has two food trucks named Daisy and Dixie that can be used for events.

What Happened After Shark Tank Update

Did the Bumbling Bee Get a Deal on Shark Tank?

On Shark Tank Season 12 Episode 22, India Iyala and Cassandra Iyala came into the Tank looking for $150,000 for 10% of their vegan junk food restaurant, The Bumbling Bee, but unfortunately left without a deal.

Is the Bumbling Bee Still in Business?

The meteoric expansion of Bumbling Bee was halted albeit briefly by Covid-19 that forced most businesses to wound up. Luckily, Bumbling Bee was able to withstand the setback. The restaurant chain ably rebounded after the Covid-19 restrictions were relaxed.
