What is Tandem Boogie?
The Tandem Boogie is a bodyboard designed for two people to jump and surf together. For surf schools, families and sea enthusiasts, the product offers a unique way to enjoy riding waves without difficulty. The board is innovative and makes waves for people with or without experience.
Who Owns Tandem Boogie?
The Tandem Boogie was invented by Manya and John Clark in order to help others to remember and enjoy themselves on the waves. The product is designed to make water sports with a partner possible for everyone with a certain level of experience.
For the majority of their lives, the couple and their three daughters surfed and paddled. So they decided to take their experience to a whole new level by establishing a buddy board, from which they became a business.
The idea for Tandem Boogie, now rebranded as Tandm Surf, was a joint initiative from the Clark family in 2015. Living in San Clemente, a beach town in Southern California, regular trips to the beach and time spent in the ocean were everyday occurrences.
Using a relatively sizeable single-use boogie board, John would catch waves with one of his young daughters riding tandem as a way for them to learn and have fun.
Over time, the idea for an inflatable two-person boogie board with handles started to form in his mind, seeing how much enjoyment his family got from it.
In 2018, he shot some videos with a prototype design, and it proved an online success. The family then turned to crowdfund platform Kickstarter to get production going, gaining a patent in the interim.
However, selling their product online at its website and a few local surf shops in San Clemente were only getting them so far. So to grow the product and take it to a bigger market, they started looking for an investor.
