What is Soupergirl?

Soupergirl, the healthy alternative to traditional varieties, is a plant-based soup. Produced in small batches, it comes in a variety of flavors with pumpkin bisque being its most popular. Soupergirl is made from only healthy and fresh ingredients without any of the additives and chemicals typically found in traditional soups.

Who Owns Soupergirl?

Soupergirl was created by the mother-daughter team of Marilyn and Sarah Polon. Sarah Polon is a graduate of University of Pennsylvania. She worked as a stand-up comic and as a senior program director of Authentic Isreal before becoming CEO of Soupergirl. Marilyn is a home-taught kitchen chef.

Founder’s Story

Marilyn and Sarah Polon both enjoy a healthy lifestyle. Sarah, in 2008, made the decision, after conducting research, to try to counteract the effects of the industrial food movement. The Polons compost, support local farmers. and try to not waste food. Marilyn joined Sarah, adding her culinary skills to Sarah’s business skills.

Marilyn and Sarah’s desire create a healthy soup led them to the basement of what was then a Spanish restaurant. They opened their first storefront in 2011, and steadily grew there business from that point on.

Their passion for sharing natural, nutritious, freshly cooked soups full of fresh, local produce had already brought them millions in sales with over $1.4 million in 2016 and $2.4 million in 2017.

With success brewing for the Soupergirls, they eventually decided it was time to see if the Sharks were hungry for a deal.
