Company Background

What is Souls Calling?

Souls Calling was a gift and accessories company that produced and sold items bearing inspirational and motivational messages. The company developed items such as umbrellas, water glasses, heavyweight acrylic bangles, bracelets, and sandals that leave messages on the sand to make the world a happier place.

Who Founded Souls Calling?

In 2004, Souls Calling’s founder, Gina Cotroneo, has held various positions in her career. She started as an Art Director at Publicis before going onto join Artful Technologies as a Creative Director. She retained a similar role when she joined Blake-Miller Communications. Currently, Ms. Cotroneo is a freelance Creative Director and Marketeer.

Founder’s Story

Gina Cotroneo draws her inspiration from wanting to make the world a happier place. She sought to have a personal assault on her by a serial killer not derail her positive and bubbly outlook on life.

Ms. Cotroneo had to live and go through the conviction and trial. In addition to that, she had to undergo personal healing after being a victim of an assault attack at her home in Dallas back in 1997. She, therefore, decided to start inscribing inspirational messages to cheer up buyers of her gifts and accessories.

Gina built the company from scratch: naming the company, designing its logo, and sourcing for the product. Before featuring on Shark Tank, she encountered a financial problem because she had a defective business plan that led to non-affordable unit costs, causing the business to fail.

Ms. Cotroneo is motivated by a desire to radiate positive energy to the people that she interacts with and she is guided by prayer and meditation to bring joy wherever she goes.
