Company Background

What is the Sleep Styler?

The Sleep Styler is a revolutionary overnight hair curler made to save you time, stop damaging your hair, and get you beautiful results. Created from an absorbent memory foam, The Sleep Styler is designed to be worn to bed, so you wake up with a head of luscious wavy hair.

Who is the Sleep Styler Founder?

The Sleep Styler was invented by Dr. Tara Brown, a mother of 2 and an ophthalmologist for the past 15 years. Before creating The Sleep Styler, Tara graduated from Tulane University Medical School and completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of California. Tara is still a practicing ophthalmologist today.

Founder’s Story

As a busy mother and doctor, Tara never had time to style her naturally frizzy hair every morning and she was tired of the way products and heat damage were affecting her hair.

The inspiration for The Sleep Styler came one day while Tara was removing a braid from her daughter’s hair, that had been wet the night before.

She noticed the way that the wet hair retained its shape once it had dried and imagined a product that could style your hair as you slept.

Tara knew that the product she had envisioned would require sewing skills which she did not have.

To remedy this, Tara enrolled herself in fashion school part time all while maintaining her ophthalmology practice until she felt ready to start manufacturing her product.

When Tara launched her Kickstarter campaign, she met her goal of $10,000 within 24 hours and finished the campaign at $47,000.

  1. I saw an update and thought it was going well. What the heck happened? Just poor quality? Millions in sales, did Lori ever get her money back?
