What is Off the Cob?
Off the Cob is a revolutionary snack company that offers natural corn tortilla chips made from sweet corn instead of the conventional grain corn, resulting in a better tasting chip.
Their business model is also built on sustainability, reducing the waste from sweet corn that would usually be discarded, making them into tortilla chips instead.
Who Owns Coinout?
Founder and president Cameron Sheldrake was a student at Babson College, Boston when he developed and eventually launched the product. At the time of writing, Sheldrake’s last known occupation was at Early Bird Farm and Garden Centre as recently as 2019.
Having grown up on a farm in Ithaca, NY where his family has grown sweet corn for generations, Sheldrake noticed the troubling amount of sweet corn wasted every season from product that went unsold.
He was not put off by the short shelf life of sweet corn compared to grain corn and tackled the dilemma – being the first person ever to conceive using sweet corn to make tortilla chips.
Initially, Sheldrake received funding from a successful Kickstarter campaign raising over $15,000 to get his idea off the ground before being featured on Shark Tank.

Is Off the Cob Still in Business?
The first major retailer to carry Off the Cob tortilla chips was Whole Foods, a deal that demonstrated the products promise initially, and the product was available on Amazon.com for purchase. The company had since ceased operations, but in March of 2021, the company’s status was changed to “In existence”. Does this we’ll be seeing more of Off the Cob soon? Stay tuned to find out!
