What is Mother Beverage (Poppi)?
Mother Beverage (Poppi) is a soda-like beverage infused with apple cider vinegar flavor. It’s a healthy drink that is lightly sweet, fruity, and bubbly. Poppi flavors that stand out the most are orange, Strawberry Lemonade, Peach Tea, and Lime Ginger. Due to the infused Apple Cider Vinegar, Poppi has prebiotics that contains pectin, which improves digestion. You can buy Poppi products at Whole Foods market.
Who Founded Mother Beverage (Poppi)?
Previously, Mother Beverage (Poppi) co-founders-Stephen Ellsworth and Allison worked in the oil and gas industry in the Landman field. Before Poppi, the oil and gas industry professionals had no experience producing beverages. The two first opened their first Poppi outlet in 2016 in Dallas, Texas, under the name “Mother Beverage.”
So, what led to the discovery of Mother Beverage? Co-founder-Allison Ellsworth had been battling with stomach issues for four years without a remedy. She decided to trust her gut and take her health into her hands and persistently researched on google to find out more about the benefits of apple cider vinegar.
The idea of Poppi came about as she was trying to craft a more palatable apple cider drink. After just two weeks of drinking the apple cider-infused beverage, Allison admits she started feeling better.
In 2016, the company retailed this beverage in Dallas Farmers Market, leading to their discovery by Whole Foods. Within a year, they were in a dozen Whole Foods locations, grossing about $500k in sales.
By November 2020, Poppi was one of the leading prebiotic soda brands, recording a year-over-year growth of 531%. At the onset of the pandemic earlier in March 2019, Alison and Stephen launched the brand, despite uncertainties and a gloomy economic outlook. Currently, they are working full-time to grow and market their brand.
