Company Background

What is Mobcraft?

MobCraft is a microbrewery that allows others to submit a recipe for a new beer. Each month, the recipe for the most vote, or pre-orders, will be produced. Anyone who orders a new recipe can either pick up the beer at the MobCraft brewery or have it shipped when ready.

Who Founded Mobcraft?

Mobcraft was founded in 2011 by Henry Schwartz and Andrew Gierczak who came up with the idea for a crowd-sourced brewery. Henry’s entrepreneurial journey began in 2005, when he operated and owned a skateboard store in Wisconsin. Later on, Henry began his brewing career as a hobby in college. As time went on, his brew recipes became very popular. That’s when he decided to turn it into a business. Henry currently is in charge of MobCrafts operation and Andrew works as MobCrafts advising consultant.

Founder’s Story

On a wintery day in Madison Wisconsin back in 2012, Henry and Andrew sat in Henry’s basement. This was when Henry’s ideas to become a brewer of the people and have the locals come up with all of their recipes came to fruition. When MobCraft was founded, they began brewing beers such Eggnostic, Arabian Date Night, and Ball & Chain Imperial IPA. When a new crowdfunding law took effect in 2014 in Wisconsin, MobCraft was the first company to take advantage of it.

The business model that MobCraft uses is what sets them apart from other craft breweries. Schwartz’s goal was to continue crowdfunding recipes with no plans to change this in order to build their relationship with their fans.
