What is Milk Snob?
Milk Snob is your one-stop-shop for a wide selection of baby and new-mom accessories. Their flagship product at inception is a multifunctional car seat and nursing cover, which adds a new fashion accessory to your wardrobe while being a practical solution for feeding and baby warmth. You can purchase these covers in a host of different designs from high-quality materials.
Who Owns Milk Snob?
Melanie Disbrow from Texas is the founder of Milk Snob, which she started in 2012. Melanie is originally from Germany, where she met her husband, who was serving in the US military, and on deployment in the country. She has a background in photography. She remains in her position today as the CEO of the company.
Being a sleep-deprived new mom certainly didn’t dull Melanie’s creative ingenuity. For example, her current baby seat cover wouldn’t stay put, with her infant tugging at it, and it created yet another thing to lug around or get lost.
Noticing a gap in the market, she made a breathable, multipurpose seat cover with a hole in the middle to check in on her baby and place her head through when breastfeeding. She designed a fashionable prototype, which could double as a clothing accessory, and then began sewing more from her garage as interest among her group of mom friends grew.
This consistent interest led to a phenomenal $1.2 million in sales over five months, primarily through word of mouth and social media advertising.
Melanie soon began to get approaches from big-brand retailers but was hesitant due to her lack of business expertise and decided to look for an investor who could offer her capital and guidance.
