What is Kit Lender?
Kit Lender is an outdoors gear rental company ideal for those who enjoy activities such as skiing, snowboarding, and backpacking on occasion but not frequently enough to purchase their own personal gear. Kit Lender offers various different kits including the Complete Outerwear & Boots Kit, Car Camping Kit, and Backpacking Kit.
Who Owns Kit Lender?
The company was founded by Forrest Shinners, a former reporting analyst turned entrepreneur. Forrest attended college at the University of Vermont where he earned bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Accounting and Finance.
After graduation, he held various positions centered around capital analysis and management until deciding to pursue entrepreneurship full-time.
Forrest developed the idea for Kit Lender while working in finance in New York City. He noticed many of the people he worked with enjoyed outdoor activities on occasion, particularly skiing and snowboarding, but not quite enough to purchase their own gear.
He realized this gap in the market likely prevented many from enjoying such activities more frequently.
Thus, he decided to create a gear rental company which would include not only the larger, more obvious items such as ski clothing and boots, but also the easy-to-forget items such as base layers and socks.
What Happened After Shark Tank Update
Is Kit Lender Still in Business?
Kit Lender remains open for business and sales have up-ticked since the company’s appearance on Shark Tank. Currently, their kits are available for rental through their direct website and via their partners Ski.com, Ski Butler, ReserveAmerica Apex Club, and many more. The company’s wide accessibility continues to bolster their ongoing success.
