What is InstaFire?
InstaFire is a foolproof, easy-to-use fire starter. It’s suitable for commonplace use, such as for fireplaces, fire pits, stoves, ovens, and campfires, or as an emergency source of heat and protection during unforeseen circumstances.
The product was designed to be functional even during harsh weather conditions and incredibly reliable; due to this, the U.S. military has incorporated its use into various operations.
InstaFire offers fire starter packs and buckets, fire logs, emergency fuel, charcoal starters, stoves and lighters, and even a limited range of branded apparel.
Who Owns InstaFire?
The company was founded by Utah natives Frank Weston and Konel Banner. Frank received his B.S. in Broadcast Communications from Weber University. Throughout the last few years of his education, he began operating as the owner and president of Weston’s Special Services.
He remains currently involved with the company and has been for over twenty-two years. Konel began working for R.K. Wholesalers Inc. in 1995; currently the company’s president, he’s worked at the organization for over twenty-six years.
The inspiration for InstaFire began with an extremely close call for Konel’s sister and her family. Considered the worst disaster in Idaho history, in early June of 1976, the Teton Dam collapsed, sending eighty gallons of water rushing into Snake River Valley just below.
As luck would have it, Konel’s sister and her family were directly in the water’s path at the time of the tragedy.
The group was missing for a full week. Miraculously, they managed to escape unscathed; however, Konel was left shaken. He wondered how someone without sufficient survival or outdoors skills would be able to start a fire in an emergency situation.
This is what led to the development of InstaFire—a product of convenience, yes, but also one that is potentially lifesaving.

Is InstaFire Still in Business?
As of today, InstaFire remains in business and is highly successful. Approved for use in both the U.S. military and the Boy Scouts of America, the company’s products have been widely featured on television shows such as Good Morning America and in magazines such as Popular Mechanics and Wired.
Their products are sold across the country by major retailers, including Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Academy Sports; and the company has no plans of slowing down.
Currently, they look forward to exploring additional business partnerships with the aim of further expanding product availability domestically and perhaps even internationally, should demand eventually lead them overseas.
