What is Hug Sleep?
Being hugged or cuddle has been proven to put you into a deeper more calming sleep. The patented Sleep Pod by Sleep Hug has been designed to just do that. By gently applying calming pressure, the lightweight sleep pod simulates being hugged or cuddled and provides compression rather than weight to help those with sensory disorders, anxiety, or stress. If your sleep problems stem from your inability to regulate your body temperature, then this will work wonders.
Who Founded Hug Sleep?
Hug Sleep was started by the husband and wife team of Matt and Angie. Matt comes from a mechanical engineering background and has spent most of his career as a new product designer.
Angie spent her life training in psychology. Together with their experience, they created Hug Sleep and patented their design for the Sleep Pod.
After exhausting all his options of trying to get a good night’s sleep, Matt decided to try to sort out his sleep issues. Being a new product developer by trade he had the perfect background to start developing a product for a good night’s sleep.
Angie with her background in mental health knew how important sleep is to be able to function. Together they started to develop the Sleep Pod which uses the same psychology used with weighted blankets to keep the user feeling secure and calm.
What Happened After Shark Tank Update
Did Hug Sleep Get a Deal on Shark Tank?
On Shark Tank Season 12 Episode 3, Angie Kupper and Matt Mundt entered the Shark Tank seeking $150,000 for 10% for their swaddle blanket for adults, and accepted an offer of $300,000 for 20%, from Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner.
Is Hug Sleep Pod Still in Business?
Hug sleep is still in business with an active website, and its headquarters are in Brookfield, Wisconsin. You can purchase their range of cacoon-shaped sleep pods for adults and kids on their website. The product is also available for purchase on Amazon. Likewise, the husband and wife team Matt and Angie, the co-founders, are still with the company.
To offer a good night’s rest, Hug sleep’s more advanced competitor would be Eight Sleep, which sells sleep pod concepts. However, its offerings come with climate control, wake-up technology, and sensors to monitor your body’s vitals, built into both the mattress and pod. In addition, Cocoon also offers a range of sleeping systems. While this company’s product range focuses more on travel and camping, their lightweight sleeping bags for tropical regions are similar in design.
