What is Hamboards?
Hamboards is a company which manufactures Surfskate boards, paddles, accessories, and apparel. Surfskate boards are a type of skateboard intended for street use and meant to mimic the feeling of surfing.
Hamboards has both Surfskate longboards and shortboards and various styles of each, including Classics, Pingers, and Loggers for longboards and Fish, Pescaditos, Huntington Top Carving, and Twisted Fin for shortboards. They also offer cruiser skateboards, land paddles, and electric boards.
Who Owns Hamboards?
Hamboards was founded in Huntington Beach by Peter Hamborg. Peter studied Tubular Projection in Aqueous Environments at University of Orange Coast College and then went on to work as an Orange County fireman for over thirty years.
He considers himself to be a craftsman, firefighter, and most recently, entrepreneur. The use of the word “recently” is relative, however, as this most recent title is one he’s proudly worn for over fifteen years.
Peter didn’t necessarily intend on entering into the business world; as mentioned, he worked as a firefighter for most of his career. He loved his job, his family, and surfing.
A father, his children also enjoyed surfing and spending time at the beach. Waves aren’t always ripe for riding, however, and on such days Peter would spend time working in his garage.
Those days in the garage were centered around a pet project which would later become the Hamboards of today. Peter was looking to create a skateboard that would feel like surfing so his children could enjoy a similar experience on the days they couldn’t get in the water.
