What is Goverre?
The Goverre is a portable glass “adult sippy cup” for wine that borrows its names from the French meaning of glass, “verre.”
It is made up of inner thick glass that holds the wine to give it the same taste as a normal wine glass. The inner glass is cushioned with a silicone sleeve. The Goverre, which comes in different colors retails at $24, is reusable and carries 17 ounces of wine.
Who Owns Goverre?
Goverre’s creators, Regan Kelaher and Shannon Zappala, are two friends from Southern California. They first met at their children preschool pumpkin patch trip.
Since they met, they started brainstorming on ideas that would set them off towards building a brand.
Kelaher was working at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego as a project manager. Zappala was also working in San Diego for a financial services firm as a marketing manager. Currently, they are both co-founders and managers of their brand/product.
Regan Kelaher and Shannon Zappala share a passion for wine and the outdoors. The idea came up when Kelaher spilled her wine at an outdoor concert.
It was then that they realized taking wine in a plastic wasn’t as safe, neither did it share the same taste. They were, therefore, looking to have their two passions at the same time.
As a result, they came up with the idea of a portable wine glass in which they could enjoy their wine outdoors.
They started off with a Kickstarter campaign that raised them $63,457. With these funds, the two entrepreneurs funded their first production run, and started selling their products on their website and on amazon.
The pair seemed to have got it right because even without the Shark Tank influence, they had already reached sales of $500,000 in a year.
