What is Geek My Tree?

Geek My Tree lets users control and animate their Christmas tree lights from a mobile app. The lights are made for average-sized trees, ranging from about five to eight feet tall. Each set sold for more than $200, with expansion sets available for another several hundred dollars.

Who Founded Geek My Tree?

Brad Boyink has been an entrepreneur in the technology field for over 25 years. He first came to public notoriety when he started a large Christmas lights show in 2006 which raised money for the Special Olympics and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Today, Brad runs a squirrel sanctuary in West Michigan.

Founder’s Story

Brad’s history with Christmas light shows was the start of his idea for Geek My Tree. Each year, he was frustrated with the process of untangling thousands of bulbs for such little payoff. Eventually, he realized that a customizable light system would make the untangling process worth it, leading to Geek My Tree.

  1. I bought one of the tree light sets and now the app is not working and it has been removed from apple app store. Do you know if there is a way to control the lights without the app?
