Company Background

What is Fortress Clothing?

Fortress Clothing provides quality outdoor and sporting apparel suitable to wear in cold weather. The Fortress BasePro, which won “Best New Product” and “Best in Show” awards at the 2018 Worldwide Winter Show, is designed with Aeris insulation technology. Fortress’s products fortify outdoor enthusiasts against cold, wet, and windy conditions.

Who Owns Fortress Clothing?

Before becoming the CEO and owner of Fortress Clothing, Dale Lewis attended the University of Utah, where he achieved a bachelor’s degree in business marketing. Lewis foundered several start-up ventures, including a successful broadband telecommunications endeavor. Lewis’s illustrious career accomplished experience in strategic business planning and development and contract negotiation.

Founder’s Story

Lewis’s inspiration for apparel geared for extreme weather sparked when he learned that his neighbor created an innovative thermodynamic polymer that retains body heat while expelling moisture. Lewis realized it would allow for compact wind-resistant clothing that would keep the wearer warm even when they got wet. The result was the founding of Fortress Clothing in 2012 and Aeris’s official patenting in 2014.

As a successful entrepreneur, Lewis appreciates capitalism and believes in the idea that everyone is given equal opportunity to achieve success. Lewis is grateful to be living the American Dream by establishing his own business. He draws inspiration from his community of small business owners in different fields living their dreams.

In January 2020, Lewis appeared on the ABC show Shark Tank where he had to opportunity to present Fortress Clothing to a panel of investors known as the “Sharks.” This opportunity earned his business and brand widespread publicity.
