What is Flipstik?
Flipstik is an innovation that makes it possible to mount your phone on multiple surfaces. Flipstik product is a popular invention among the youth due to its adaptability. Apart from being compatible with different phones, the adhesive is also reusable. There is a one-year guarantee to replace a Flipstik if it breaks, fades or fails to stick, which makes this product a must-have.
Who Owns Flipstik?
Akeem Shannon is the inventor behind Flipstik. Before founding the company, Akeem worked in various mobile companies as a salesperson. He also briefly worked for a fintech, but felt unfulfilled. He had a higher calling of being an entrepreneur, a quest he fulfilled when he started Flipstik Company. Akeem had wanted to be his own boss, a fête he still holds today.
Akeem was motivated to have a shot at a decent life after losing a Howard scholarship. As mentioned earlier, he briefly worked for various companies before making his magnum opus in 2017. Akeem can credit his uncle, a NASA engineer, for having pointed him towards reusable adhesives.
Being a youth, he created a product that resonated positively with the millennials. With most youths creatively using their phones to Vlog, post videos on sites like TikTok and Instagram, this product became a must-have. Flipstik’s capability of being mounted on multiple services also became its major selling point.
When Akeem was starting, he barely had enough money to mass produce Flipstik. After getting a patent and trademark for the novel accessory, he sought funds through a Kickstarter campaign. His goal was around $1865 but got ten-fold amount within a month of launching the campaign. Before appearing on Shark Tank, Flipstik had already won a first prize in a promotion held by TechStars.
