What is FitFighter?
FitFighter is a unique workout program that is designed around the use of fire hoses as free weights.
The free weights themselves are made of real fire hoses and steel shot and were originally designed with firefighters in mind.
Though originally created for firefighters, and is used in firefighting training programs including the FDNY Fire Training Academy, FitFighter is also available to the general public.
Who Founded FitFighter?
Iraq war veteran and former volunteer firefighter Sarah Apgar is the founder and CEO of FitFighter.
Ivy League educated, earning her MBA from Dartmouth, Apgar has a strong background in business.
Apgar also works as the Director of New Stores and Facilities for Warby Parker and as Vice President of Expansion and Facilities for Recover Together, an opioid recovery foundation.
Apgar was inspired to create FitFighter after she left the army and missed the close fellowship and training she experienced while enlisted. She then joined her local volunteer firefighting brigade and was inspired by their training regimen to develop FitFighter based on the drills that she worked on in her firefighting training.
