What is DetraPel?
DetraPel is a non-toxic PFAS free liquid and stain remover, repellent, as well as an upholstery protector. They also offer disinfectants and sanitizers, claiming to kill COVID-19 in 60 seconds. Their protector line acts as a guard against or removal of stains on any fabric, from sneakers to clothes, upholstery, car seats, rugs, etc. The product is safe to use without a mask in the presence of children and pets.
Who is the DetraPel Founder?
David Zamarin is the founder of DetraPel, a graduate of Babson College in Business Administration and Management who also attended the University of Pennsylvania. He worked as a strategic advisor before opening DetraPel. He remains in his position as CEO of the company and has since made Forbes list of 30 under 30 lists as a nominee, and like many successful CEOs, he gives motivational speeches.
David founded DetraPel in 2013 when he was 15 at the time to find innovative solutions to environmental and health effects from manufactured products. He researched how DetraPel’s PFAS-free coatings can repel liquids and stains while attending university part-time in the evenings, studying chemistry.
His primary focus was to make an environmentally safe product that was also risk-free to the user. Using the crowdfunding platform IndieGoGo, he raised about $3000 in start-up capital, only getting 6% of his goal.
However, any would-be investors who glanced over this and didn’t invest should be kicking themselves, as after a successful launch, he was anticipating sales in the region of $300,000 annually. It was now time to get an investor on board who could also offer guidance.
Detrapel Shark Tank Update
Is Detrapel Still in Business?
The company remains in business, and you can purchase their products online at their website, as well as department stores and e-retailers like Amazon.
They’ve seen significant growth in sales and productivity, particularly since pivoting to their new product range of sanitizers and disinfectants, thanks to the current pandemic.
Having obtained FDA approval for these items—the company has scaled back on other products and made this their primary focus in the fight against COVID.
They were able to achieve this by upping their production in the early months of 2020, which led to local government partnerships for the use of their products locally.
