Company Background

What is Deskview?

DeskView is ideal for those that work in a seated position behind a computer terminal or laptop for an extended time. As remaining seated for long periods leads to posture issues. Deskview is a portable shelf that mounts to a glass wall in a matter of seconds and allows the user to remain standing while working.

Who Owns Deskview?

Jason Grohoski and Michael Bolos co-founded DeskView in 2015. Mike, as he prefers, is a lifelong inventor. A graduate of the prestigious Cornell University, he attained a law degree and then worked as an attorney for several years. He remains active with the company and offers general counsel to a firm specializing in manufacturing through specialist guidance. Jason comes from a background as a real estate broker, as referenced on the company website. Unfortunately, his LinkedIn profile doesn’t give any meaningful information, but he appears to be still a member of the board of directors from images on the website.

Founder’s Story

The concept for DeskView started when Mike began experiencing back pains at the office from his seated desk setup. So he began looking around the office for stand-up desk alternatives.

Unfortunately, the office layout and fixed furniture didn’t present many options. All he could see offering a solution was the glass pane windows.

Being unable to find anything to solve his needs on the market, he decided to build one himself. Around this time, he turned to his good friend Jason; he had a creative mind, coupled with a passion for helping people.

Thus began two years of research, development, and testing before they were happy to market. Finally, around 2017 they resorted to Kickstarter to raise funds, as well as promote their idea. They managed to get over $65,000 from backers. Preferring a minimalist look, they then partnered with a design firm called Minimal to get it made. Now all they needed was an investor to increase production, as well as marketing.

What Happened After Shark Tank Update

Is Deskview Still in Business?

The company remains in business, headquartered in Chicago, IL, with a functional website from which you can order. Also, they’ve expanded their product offering to similar standing desk concepts. As a result, they’re not only available on all the major e-commerce retailers, but through distribution wholesalers, in over 75+ countries. They’ve also pivoted to selling wall-mounted auto-dispensing hand sanitizers and other forms of personal protection.
