Company Background

What is Certifikid?

Certifikid is a popular deal website for parents looking to engage in family-friendly activities with their children on a budget. Parents are provided opportunities ranging from kids’ summer camps, recreational activities, birthday party packages, entertainment, classes, and family outings all at an affordable price.

Who Owns Certifikid?

Before beginning Certifikid, founder Jamie Ratner had a background in Criminal Justice and was working as a security manager. In January 2010, she began a popular D.C. blog called Certifikid with her husband, Brian, aimed at helping moms discover fun and budget-friendly activities to engage in with their children.

Founder’s Story

Jamie, personally, used daily deal websites. However, she was dismayed to discover a void in the market when it came to deals geared towards family activities. While most sites offered discounts on “retreat” items such as spas and restaurants, Jamie discovered there was a huge void when it came to affordable family fun.

So over the past eleven years, Jamie and Brian grew Certifikid from a regional website to a national brand offering family geared discounts coast to coast. The company has remained successful due to a national team of parents personally selecting each deal.

“Real moms” visit businesses, do product testing, and take their families to locations mentioned on the site. This is so parents can fully see what the activity entails before making a decision.

The couple still remains motivated each day to help parents find the best affordable solutions for their families while building long-lasting relationships with local businesses.
