What is BoxLock?
Boxlock is a company which produces their famed product of the same name, the Boxlock. Instead of the standard mechanical locks which dominate the market, Boxlock functions as a “smart” lock.
Connected via Wi-Fi to a person’s smartphone, the product, in conjunction with its adjoining app, is able to provide an added layer of security in the form of GPS tracking, audit logs, and barcode scanning which grants one-time access.
These smart locks are ideal for individual users, mid-market businesses, and large-scale enterprises alike.
Who Owns BoxLock?
Boxlock was founded by Brad Ruffkess, a lifelong entrepreneur. Brad earned a degree in Computer Science and Communications from Tulane University in 2000, then went on to work as the Lead Web Solutions Designer at FIGG Engineering Group in Tallahassee, Florida.
After leaving FIGG, he spent a number of years working for different companies in the areas of strategy and communication before spending nearly nine years working for The Coca-Cola Company. At Coca-Cola, he made major advancements in the areas of marketing, media, strategy, and development.
As a lifelong entrepreneur, finding solutions to common problems comes naturally to Brad. In terms of Boxlock’s inception, simply put, he was sick of porch pirates, or people who steal packages left in front of people’s homes.
After having multiple packages stolen from in front of his house, Brad decided to put his knack for innovation to work in order to come up with a practical solution.
He initially intended the product to be for individual use, but quickly found the value in business-to-business selling, allowing businesses and later enterprises to better protect and track their assets.
