Company Background

What is Blueland?

Blueland is a company that’s been dealing in environmentally friendly cleaning products since 2019. The company aims to eliminate single-use plastic packaging in its four products; bathroom, window, and all-purpose cleaners as well as hand soap. Once the customers use up all the products, they can re-order the particular tablet and refill the bottle with water, eliminating the potential waste of single-use plastic bottles.

Who Founded Blueland?

Blueland was co-founded by Sarah Paiji Yoo and Syed Naqvi. Previously, Sarah was a partner at LAUNCH. Before that, she held the CEO position at Snapette, a mobile platform for fashion shopping that was later acquired by a price comparison site in 2013. On the other hand, Mr. Naqvi has vast experience in the consumer product arena. He worked at the Research and Development (R&D) division of Johnson & Johnson.

Founder’s Story

Co-founder Sarah Paiji Yoo was motivated to be a part of the solution geared towards the elimination of plastic waste in the environment. She developed the idea while feeding her baby on formula made from water and having read about the dissolved micro plastics in the world’s waters.

Together with Syed Naqvi, she decided to turn her passion against plastic pollution by developing innovative, non-toxic cleaning tablets and environmentally sound packaging. She is driven towards building meaningful consumer brands and has contributed to various publications, including Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, and TechCrunch.

Syed Naqvi’s Linkedin profile shows he graduated with a degree in Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh. It makes it a boost in their work to develop state-of-the-art products.
