What is Basic Outfitters?
Basic Outfitters is a company that is in the business of helping men restock their wardrobes with basic clothing items within the shortest time possible. This spectacular clothing brand offers high quality, customizable and fashionable clothing for men. Their clothing items range from t-shirts, underwear, socks, sweatpants for jogging, etc.
Who Owns Basic Outfitters?
Basic Outfitters was founded by a couple, Laura and Michael Dweck. Laura had a background in fashion design. Michael Dweck on the other hand was an operations manager for chemotherapy and surgical units at Memorial Sloan Kettering.
Today, Michael and Laura have quit their day jobs to run the company full time from a communal office located in midtown Manhattan.
The story about the founders goes this way. When they got married and moved into a cozy apartment in New York City in 2014, Laura noticed with concern that Michael’s pile of basic clothing such as socks, and underwear was taking up valuable space in their already cramped apartment.
Laura challenged Michael to throw out everything he hadn’t worn in the last six months. To their shock, this turned out to be almost everything.
The expenses and time it took to freshen up his basic attire motivated him to start his own company with the help of his wife.
Michael being a 2009 graduate from Rutgers utilized his skills in formulating a business plan for Basic Outfitters. Laura’s fashion design skills inspired their creations.
The company that formally opened its doors in 2015 targets millennial men aged 18 to 34 years with high quality and affordable basics. It has also received Forbes’ recognition in the retail and ecommerce category.
