Company Background

What is Baker’s Edge?

Baker’s Edge is a cookware brand primarily known for their original and star product: the Edge Brownie Pan. The Edge Brownie Pan is a baking pan designed to produce all edge brownies. The company’s product line has since expanded and now also includes their Simple Lasagna Pan and Better Muffin Pan.

Who Owns Baker’s Edge?

Matthew Griffin is the president and CEO of Baker’s Edge and the inventor of the Edge Brownie Pan. He studied Economics and Urban Planning at Ball State University and describes himself as an inventor at heart, stating he enjoys the artistic and creative aspects of managing Baker’s Edge just as much as the entrepreneurial.

Founder’s Story

The story of the Edge Brownie Pan began with a conversation Matthew had with his then-boss at his first post-graduation job. They were chatting about an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show in which a young inventor named Abbey Fleck discussed creating her microwave bacon rack.

Initially musing about the product’s simplicity and the inventor’s probable luck in striking gold, Matthew instead began to realize the ingenuity of solving commonplace problems and the difficulty of getting a project off the ground.

He found himself inspired by Abbey, and began to wonder if he could accomplish a similar feat. He happened to be eating a brownie at this moment, an edge brownie specifically, and thus the story of the Edge Brownie Pan, and later Baker’s Edge, began.

What Happened After Shark Tank Update

Is Baker’s Edge Still in Business?

Baker’s Edge is still currently open for business. Sales have waxed and waned over the years, at times rather sharply, but Matthew expects to drive sales up with the newest product additions of the Simple Lasagna Pan and Better Muffin Pan. He also expects his company to maintain its monopoly over these products due to Matthew’s patent holding status.
